T+2 Settlement Cycle Implementation for Transactions.

T+2

Effective November 28, 2025, CSCS will adopt the T+2 settlement cycle, reducing the time it takes for securities trades to settle from three business days to just two. This move streamlines the process, leading directly to more efficient transactions and expedited transaction payments.  This major update means faster transaction processing and grants you quicker access to shares and returns.

        KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • From Friday, 28th November 2025, all trades executed in the market will settle on T+2, meaning two business days after the trade date.
  • Trades executed on Thursday, 27th November 2025 (the last T+3 trade date) and Friday, 28th November 2025 (the first T+2 trade date) will both settle on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025.

The event, themed ‘Unlocking Global Value: The Evolving Role of Capital Market Registrars in Trust, Efficiency and Innovation’. The event featured the investiture of Mrs. Catherine Nwosu as the fourth president and chairman of Council of the Institute. Speaking on the theme, they pointed out that registrars occupy a pivotal role in the capital market, serving as the trusted record-keepers and intermediaries between issuers, investors, and regulators.

The event brought together top regulators and industry leaders, including representatives of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), BUA Group, Dangote Industries, Heirs Holdings, and other key market operators.

The participants noted that the role of registrars is evolving rapidly in an increasingly digital financial landscape. With the volume of transactions and the complexity of investor data growing exponentially, traditional manual and paper-based systems are no longer adequate.

They maintained that registrars must now build robust technological infrastructure capable of collecting, managing, and delivering real-time data seamlessly to issuers and investors.

By so doing, they would not only safeguard market integrity but also ensure that Nigeria’s capital market keeps pace with global standards. See more…
